Budget 2018: Commemorative Brexit 50p coin to be unveiled by Philip Hammond during speech


Philip Hammond is ready to announce the launch of a particular 50 pence coin to commemorate Brexit, it has been reported. 

The coin shall be unveiled by the chancellor in the course of the finances announcement this afternoon and shall be out there from 11pm on 29 March subsequent 12 months – the day that Britain leaves the European Union

The coin is predicted to have the phrases “Friendship With All Nations” inscribed on it.

The Treasury has apparently been engaged on plans for the coin for a number of months and Mr Hammond will job the Royal Mint advisory committee to design the coin.

Mr Hammond has been repeatedly criticised by Brexiteers for warning of the potential downsides of leaving the EU.
